Every Fall, Tractor Supply Co. holds a Clover Campaign drive at their stores where customers can purchase a Clover to be donated to 4-H. This fall, the Foragers came out on Saturday to hold a fundraiser and educate the public on the importance of honey bees. We used a frame from a honey bee nuc in the observation hive for our club members to display and tell viewers all about the insides of a bee hive.
Member parents and guardians brought baked goods to sell. This fall we had lots of cookies as well as some beautifully decorated honey bee cookies. The Foragers also sold their own made magnets as well as wildflower seed origami bees. We also held a raffle for a $50 gift card and our Foragers did a great job of selling lots of raffle tickets. At the end of the day, our winner for the gift card was a 4-H alumn, who held several positions in 4-H in Texas, including President of the state organization, during which time he got to meet President George Bush. It’s always a fun time at the Clover Campaign, getting to meet interesting people and lots of 4-H alumni who are always super supportive of our club.
